Me and my MP3

My husband bought me an MP3 player for Christmas. It's so neat! (I know, I sound like a 13-year old) I can download songs to my heart's content as well as pics and videos and also have the option to listen to the radio. Now I can listen to Rick and Bubba, Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity without torturing my kids (or worrying about Rush saying a bad word every once in a while). So far I have about nine CD's worth of music on it, but no pics or videos yet; I'm still trying to figure out how to do that stuff. Also, I'm not really sure what sort of videos I want on the thing. My daughter liked mine so much that she spent most of her Christmas money on one for herself. She got a different color so we wouldn't get ours mixed up. I told her I didn't want to plug into one and hear Hannah Montana - lol! I know you're wondering what music I've chosen to put on my MP3 player, so here's the list so far:

  • Josh Groban - Closer
  • Josh Turner - Long Black Train and Your Man
  • Eddie Money - Super Hits
  • The Doobie Brothers - Extended Versions
  • Kansas - Super Hits
  • America - A Horse With No Name (and other hits)
  • Martina McBride - Greatest Hits (my husband chose this one, I don't really like it)
  • Tom Petty - Free Fallin' and I Won't Back Down (just the singles)
  • James Taylor - Greatest Hits

I plan on adding Eagles, Third Day, Celtic Women, Elvis and more. I have a coupon for one free download from Wal-Mart. I can choose from "millions of songs"! That's a bit overwhelming, actually. How am I supposed to choose from "millions"? *sigh* I guess I'll be searching for quite a while today. Any suggestions? Oh, and what did you get this year? Before I forget, I want to mention something that really made my Christmas. It wasn't a gift, but a note that my daughter wrote to me that went along with the gift she gave. She wrote, "I love you and thank you for all you do for me". That brings me so much more pleasure than any old MP3 player. My son was also sweet in that he gave me a $5 gift card to Starbucks (he used his own money). Does my son know me or what? ;0) My kids are such a blessing. God is so good!

Your kids sounds so thoughtful. I love getting notes from my son. Now that he's older they are fewer and farther between, but extra special! Glad to hear about all the fun you're having with your new MP3 player. Oh, c'mon... no Hannah Montana? My son gave me an iTunes gift card, so I'll be searching through millions of songs also very soon! He also bought me a silver angel ornament with gold and white rhinestones. Very pretty and a complete surprise. He's never bought me an ornament before. Yes, our kids are definitely a blessing.(and not because of the stuff, ya know).

I'm about your age, so 80s music is good for me. I always enjoyed Bruce Springsteen, Prince ("Purple Rain"), INXS' "Greatest Hits", and others. (I'll admit that I was not a Christian through most of the 80s, though. I might not like them as much if I listened to the lyrics now;).

My family bought me Season 6 of Stargate SG1 (I'm a big fan of scifi), a few movies, and a few books. You're right about kids. What a blessing.

It sounds like you had a great Christmas and your kids definitely did good.

Haha, I got an MP3 player too. I suddently feel like I'm catching up to the technology age or something. I'm having a blast with mine and can't wait to find just the right audiobook to download. So far I have both Twilight soundtracts, a lot of John Mayer, The Incredibles soundtrack, my churches youth worship CD and some Nickelback on mine, and, later I plan on putting the Mama Mia soundtrack and a Lincon Brewster CD on it. I love searching Itunes for more things, but geez does it get expensive quick. My other favorite present was a painting done by my little sister in law of a lab. I was very surprised and impressed she did that. I love personal stuff like that :)

Some great presents there!!Those tunes you have chosen are ones that would be on my MP3 as well!!!

Funny - I nearly brought my wife an MP3 player but at the last second decided against it!!! I would also include - Randy Travis, Vince Gill, Dire Straits, JJ Cale and Pink Floyd .. oh and Mrs Twain!!!

Enjoy your treat at Starbucks!!!

My daughter got an MP3 player for her birthday and she was very excited. It even takes pictures. : )
I personally love eighties music, so if I had an MP3 player, that's what I would be getting. lol
I think the note and gift card were the best presents though. I love it when my kids do something thoughtful.

Peter Gabriel, Sarah McLaughlin, Bonnie Raitte (Nick of Time), Sheryl Crow (Greatest Hits), O' Brother Where art Thou Soundtrack, Alanis Morrisette (Jagged Little Pill)-when you're feeling mad and want to sing loud, that's perfect!
